Getting Started as a Leader

Are you interested in becoming a leader? All leaders must complete the following training before beginning their volunteer service with youth:

Youth Protection Training — New leaders must take Youth Protection Training before registration and volunteer service with youth begins.

Position Specific Training — Cub/Scout Master, Den Leader, Committee, etc.

How to Complete Your Training

To complete the training, please visit my.Scouting.org and create an account if you don't have one already. Then follow these steps:

Take the Youth Protection Training

Select the My Training tab

Select the program you wish to complete (Cub Scout, Scouts BSA, Venturing, etc.)

Select the role you will be taking (Leader, Cub/Scout Master, Committee, etc.)

Complete all required courses

TRAINING
Intro to Outdoor Leader Skills This hands-on program gives adult leaders a practical introduction to the patrol method of a boy-led troop by teaching many of the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. In addition, the teaching methods, activities, and games model the variety of teaching used in effective and engaging Scouting programs.
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor OrientationThis one-and-a-half day course is designed as an introduction to the Cub Scout outdoor program for leaders interested in adding a camping component to their Pack activities. BALOO training consists of an online pre-requisite component in addition to an overnight outdoor camping experience. Completion of this course is mandatory for a minimum of one adult on a Pack overnighter.
