Marine Corps League Eagle Scout Certificate Program

Troops, Crews, & Ships,

I am the Youth Services Officer for Aiken MCL Detachment 939 and am writing today about the MCL Good Citizenship Award that is presented to new Eagle Scouts at their Court of Honor. The Program requires the new Eagle Scout, or his family, to request the certificate from their closest MCL Detachment and provide the date, time, and location of the ceremony so a Marine can attend the ceremony and present it in person.

As the District Director for the Georgia-Carolina Council, BSA I am Publishing each Detachment’s contact information for these certificates to all Scout Troops, Venture Crews, & Sea Scout Ships in the Council so you know which Detachment you should be contacting. Currently all of the Scout Troops, Venture Crews, & Sea Scout Ships council-wide are contacting me because I am the Council’s District Director, and you know that I and Col. Davis are members of the Aiken Detachment, and that Col. Davis is also the Scouting District Committee Chair.

I am asking All Leaders to publish this information to your Eagle Candidates and their parents to allow the Scouts to make the request and schedule the presentation with the closest Detachment instead of calling the office and asking me to contact them and get back to you, which will reduce the response time for the Scout family.

Each Detachment member who will be receiving these requests and scheduling the certificate presentations is listed below, along with the counties they are serving. Any Marine in the Detachment can do the presentation, but they all have one Point Of Contact to manage the program and print the Certificates. I am that person in the Aiken Detachment.

If you have a request for a different Detachment to provide the Certificate Presentation due to knowing a member of the Detachment please feel free to contact that Detachment and they will work with you. If you contact a Detachment that does not respond within one (1) week, please feel free to contact me.
