Golden Eagle Celebration 2024

We are proud to Chair the sixth “Friends of Scouting” Golden Eagle Celebration to honor community leaders who provide outstanding civic service to adults and youth in the area and lift future generations of young people through supporting the mission of Scouting’s Georgia-Carolina Council.

The event, which is held to present the council’s Distinguished Citizen Award, was started in 2018 to honor those who personify what Scouting represents – good citizenship, outstanding moral fiber with a dedication to others, and for living their lives by the Scout Oath and Law. The recipient does not have to be a Scouting volunteer to receive the award.

This year, as the recipient of its Distinguished Citizen Award for unselfish service to area citizens and youth programs, the council will honor Eagle Scout, community leader, and philanthropist

The award will be presented at the 2024 Golden Eagle Celebration on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at The Richmond on Greene at 725 Greene Street in downtown Augusta.

The Keynote Speaker, Aaron Linsdau, is only the second American to ski alone from the coast of Antartica to the South Pole! Come hear his stories of scaling Mount Kilimanjaro.  It will be a fun filled, inspirational evening!

Beyond being the primary fundraising event for local Scouting, this event has become a local tradition to remind the community of the positive impact Scouting has on young people – the future leaders of our community. Scouts don’t just enjoy the outdoors; they learn values and skills that will last a lifetime.
