Ready to dig into the fascinating world of plants? The Plant Science Merit Badge is your opportunity to explore how plants grow, adapt, and play a vital role in the world around us. From the food we eat to the air we breathe, plants are essential to life, and this class will help you discover just how incredible they truly are.

During this hands-on session, Scouts will learn about plant biology, how plants grow and reproduce, and the many ways plants support ecosystems and human life. You’ll explore the science behind agriculture, gardening, and plant conservation while gaining practical knowledge that connects science to the natural world. Come prepared to ask questions, learn something new, and maybe even get a little dirt under your fingernails. By the end of the class, you’ll walk away with a deeper appreciation for the plants that surround us every day.

Prerequisite: To complete the merit badge during the class session, Scouts must complete Requirement 8 in advance. This requirement allows you to choose from several plant-focused projects. You must select the option that interests you most and come ready to share what you learned.
