Room Rallies
Room Rallies are one of the most effective ways to generate excitement about Scouting and drive attendance to your sign-up events. Whether you’re recruiting for Cub Scouts or Scouts BSA, a well-executed Room Rally makes a lasting impression on youth and sets the stage for new families to join.
What is a Room Rally?
A Room Rally is a fast, high-energy classroom presentation delivered during the school day. The purpose is to:
-
Spark interest in Scouting by sharing what makes it fun, exciting, and meaningful.
-
Distribute flyers or parent guides inviting families to an Open House or sign-up event.
-
Create a sense of anticipation that motivates youth to take information home and talk with their parents.
Room Rallies should be short and engaging—about 90 seconds per classroom—and scheduled 1–2 days before your Open House so the excitement stays fresh.

Cub Scout Room Rally
Cub Scout Room Rallies focus on the Three F’s—Family, Fun, and Friends—and help children understand that Cub Scouts is a place to learn, play, and belong.
Tips for a Great Cub Scout Room Rally:
-
Keep your message simple, upbeat, and fun.
-
Show something visual, like a Pinewood Derby car, camping gear, or a colorful pack t-shirt.
-
Emphasize exciting activities: racing cars, hiking, camping, building crafts, and making friends.
-
Use kid-friendly language:
“Who wants to go camping? Who likes making cool things? Who wants to have fun with your family and friends?” -
Hand out flyers or parent guides as you leave.
Sample Script:
