Are you ready to take on one of Scouting’s most important challenges? The Lifesaving Merit Badge isn’t just about swimming—it’s about gaining the skills and confidence to act in emergencies and potentially save lives. Water-related accidents can happen instantly, and this badge prepares you to recognize danger, respond effectively, and perform rescues with courage and clarity.

Before diving in, Scouts must have passed the BSA Swim Test and earned the Swimming Merit Badge—a solid foundation that ensures you’re ready for this next vital step. This badge is about more than personal achievement; it’s about responsibility, leadership, and readiness to protect those around you.

To fully participate, Scouts must bring their lunch, a towel, a spare change of clothes, and proper swimming gear for in-water practice. Earning this badge challenges you physically and mentally, but the reward is knowing you’re prepared to step up when it matters most. This is your opportunity to gain skills that could make all the difference in a life-or-death situation—be prepared to be someone’s hero.
