The National Rifle Association Foundation’s grant award to the Georgia Carolina Council of Scouting America

The Georgia Carolina Council of Scouting America was the recipient of a 2025 grant from the National Rifle Association (NRA) Foundation. The goal of the NRA Foundation is to support safe and responsible shooting sports, especially for youth. This year, the Foundation awarded the Council six Ruger American .22 caliber rimfire rifles, archery equipment, and safety equipment. The grant to the Council enabled the Shooting Sports Program to provide a quality experience for those Scouts who participate in the rifle, shotgun, and archery merit badge programs. The goal of the shooting sports merit badge programs is to teach the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to use and enjoy firearms and archery equipment responsibly and safely.

The NRA Foundation has supported the Council with firearms several times over the years, including pistols, rifles and a shotgun.

The Georgia Carolina Council is grateful for the generosity of the NRA Foundation and, especially to the Clarks Hill Chapter, which holds its annual Friends of the NRA Event which holds several fund-raising events throughout the year.

If you might be interested in becoming an NRA instructor and dedicate time to work with the scouting program, please contact Craig or Jan Zimmerman at 706-359-4899 or Ron Pflieger at 910-987-0996. All responsible adults of good moral character are welcome.
