Goal

  • Provide all AOL Scouts the opportunity to join a troop & experience Scouts BSA
  • Increase likelihood AOL Scouts continue in Scouting
  • Keep troops strong

How to help the transition

  • Recognize AOL Scouts graduate from Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA
  • Help parents understand the transition
  • Make transition fun

Why is AOL to Scouts BSA important?

  • They are the easiest Scouts to recruit because the youth and parents are already familiar with and invested in Scouting

Timeline

September/October

  • Troop - Identify AOL Scouts who can enter a Scout unit in the next calendar year
  • Pack - Identify a troop or troops that can support the AOL to Scouting transition
  • Pack/Troop - Adopt a den chief for all AOL dens if the den does not already have a den chief

October/November

  • Visit packs to introduce Cub Scouts to Scouting and build excitement with Bears, Webelos, and AOL dens.

January/February

  • Troop – Host AOL Scouts & their parents at a troop meeting – Consider “What to expect” training for parents after opening.
  • Pack & Troop – Pick date & location for bridging ceremony

February/March

  • Pack & Troop – Hold bridging ceremony
  • Troop – Get new Scouts to the next troop meeting – Keep meeting fun

March/April

  • Troop – Get new Scouts to an overnight event
  • Troop – Recruit new parents as leaders
