"Scouting's Journey To Excellence"The new "Quality Unit" program that will begin in 2011.From 2007 - 2010, units have had the opportunity to achieve the "Centennial Quality Unit Award". In 2011 this will change to a program called "Scouting's Journey To Excellence". This new performance recognition program changes the basic way we measure and recognize success in the Boy Scouts of America by moving away from measuring process and moving to measure performance. There are three levels of performance (Bronze, Silver or Gold) that can be achieved for most objectives. While some objectives vary by program (Pack, Troop, and Crew), some objectives are similar across all programs...including youth retention, trained adult leaders and community service. At recharter time in 2012, units will be eligible to achieve the 2011 "Journey To Excellence" Award at one of three levels (Bronze, Silver, or Gold) based on their performance of meeting the objectives in 2011. More information about this program will be shared at an upcoming Roundtable meeting in your district. If you would like to find out more about the program, please check out this link where you will be able to sign up to participate in a "webinar" presented by the National Council in support of the rollout of this new program. http://www.scouting.org/filestore/mission/JTE_Webinar_Schedule.pdf |
