First-ever Venturing Adventure Weekend a Success!

On October 3-5, 36 Venturers embarked on Camp Robert E. Knox and participated in the 1^st Annual Venturer Adventure Weekend.  This event allowed different Venture Crews to get together and participate in various programs during the weekend.  As Friday night approached, the Venturers set off in the woods at midnight to compete in a night Geocaching (GPS) course, with the help of 15 NCO’s from the Army.  After trekking through the woods all night long till 4am, rest was much needed.  With little sleep, it was time to participate in the Low Cope Course.  The Venturers were the first Scouting group to go through the brand new course at Camp Robert E. Knox.  The pizza arrived that afternoon and everyone’s focus turned towards lunch.  After great team building exercises on the COPE course it was time for some food and a much needed break.  However, the break did not last long as the Crews then headed towards the waterfront and got to paddle around in canoes and participate in some water activities.  The event could not have asked for better weather than what it had, blue skies all weekend long and a nice cool breeze most of the time.  The day winded down with the movie “Iron Man” on the big screen.  After a great Scout’s Own service Sunday morning all departed.  It was a great time had by all and we are looking forward to next year and to making it bigger and better.
