Crew 8 @ Philmont 2011

Crew 8, chartered to St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, recently returned from their trek to Philmont. While at Philmont they were known as Crew 623-K and hiked though the north country of Valle Vidal which included a stop at Rich Cabin. Rich Cabin was built in 1880 by a homesteading family and today is a restored homesteading farm complete with a milk cow, sheep, pigs, and chickens. While the north country was scenic and we encountered relatively few other crews, the mountains were still the main attraction.   The Crew climbed Baldy Mountain, Shaefers Peak and Tooth of Time. Many of the crew said that the afternoon rock climbing at Dean Cow Camp was the best staffed camp.  8 youth and 3 adultd advisors participated in this trek.
