A Scout is Reverent

As a Boy Scout Chaplain I am making my way around reminding people that Sunday February 8th is Scout Sunday and the Official Birthday (99th) of the Boy Scouts of America.  Normally it is the Sunday before February 8th and for the Methodist it is usually the second Sunday in February so as not to interfere with their Communion Sunday but this year everybody gets to celebrate on the same day and on Scouting's actual Birthday at that.  Scout Sunday is a day that Churches normally recognize all Youth and Adult Leaders of the Boy Scouts of America and a great opportunity to give out any Religious Awards or recognize any Religious Awards that have been given out in the last year (you do not have to wait until Scout Sunday to give out Religious Awards).  They also might invite Boy Scout Youth and Adults of their Church to participate in their religious services such as reading, serving, ushering, or assisting according to your custom or tradition.  It is also very appropriate to invite Packs, Troops, and Crews that your Church sponsors to be a part of any or all of your services and recognize them as you see fit.  We encourage Youth and Adults to wear their uniforms to Church and represent Scouting well on that special day.  Many churches have special services for Scout Sunday and an example of such can be found on the National Boys Scout site courtesy of the Relationships Division:
